Congrats to Cheryl Hughes, winner of our Pink and Grey Challenge!
In front of about 50 Pink Broom participants, PRCL board member Clayton Bergquist made the call to Cheryl Hughes to congratulate her on winning the two Grey Cup tickets from our "Pink and Grey" challenge! Cheryl joined the 50,000+ football fans in cheering on the BC Lions as they won the Grey Cup on home turf.
Sell Grey – Win Pink!
Thank you to all PRCL members who supported us in this raffle to raise money for the 2012 Canadian Gay Curling Championship (CGCC, Nationals) alongside our annual Pac Rim Cup in February. As a result of your efforts, we managed to raise well over $2,000! Additionally, the Hacks in Slacks won the $200 Pink Dollars and generously donated the money back to the PRCL to use towards the CGCC.
Way to go everyone!
*Note: Pac Rim Cup registration opens on December 1 so mark your calendar!

Grey Cup Ticket Raffle
The PRCL is raffling off two tickets to the sold out Grey Cup Final at BC Place on November 27. Raffle tickets are sold in packs of 3 at $5/pack. Odds of winning are 1 in 2950 (if all tickets are sold).
Proceeds will support the league’s hosting of the 2012 Canadian Gay Curling Championship (CGCC) and Pac Rim Cup Bonspiel on February 3-5, 2012. Teams that sell at least 20 packs of tickets will have the chance to win $200 in "Pink Bucks" to use towards Pink Broom or Pac Rim Cup/CGCC registration fees!
Sell Grey!
Can your curling team sell 20 packs of tickets priced at $5/pack in one week? If you are on a four-player team, that's only 5 packs per player.
- Pick up your 20 packs of tickets at the Pink Broom Registration Desk at the Vancouver Curling Club on Sunday, November 13 or Monday, November 14.
- Talk to your friends. Talk to your co-workers. It shouldn't be a hard sell -- the Grey Cup is the hottest ticket in town these days!
- Sell your tickets. Cash only.
- Give the ticket to the buyer. Keep the stub. Ticket buyer’s name and phone number must appear on the stub. Remember that tickets are sold in packs of 3 (i.e. 3 tickets for $5).
- Return all your stubs and sales revenue to the Pink Broom Registration Desk at the Vancouver Curling Club on Sunday, November 20 or Monday, November 21.
Win Pink!
If your team returns all your completed stubs and the corresponding $100 in sales revenue to the Vancouver Curling Club before 9:05 pm on Monday, November 21, your team will be entered to win $200 in pink bucks. Pink bucks can be used towards Pink Broom registration fees, Pac Rim Cup registration fees or redeemed for a Vancouver Curling Club gift card (i.e. free beer!).
Think your team can sell 40 packs or more? Earn an extra entry into the prize draw for an additional 20 packs sold.
Spares are welcome to join another team on the challenge or take it on as an individual challenge. Not sure if your team can sell 20 packs, but still want to support the league? A limited number of individual raffle tickets are available for $2 each.

Making It Work - Again!
PRCL members had an epic weekend at the first official bonspiel at the Vancouver Curling Club (VCC)!
First an 8-ender, now – winners of the Harvest Bonspiel 'A' Event!
Curlers George Hall (Skip), Third Kevin Jervis (Third), Shelly Birston (Second), David Thill (Lead), Claude Stang (Alternate) won the coveted Harvest Bonspiel 'A' Event final.
"We heard from so many people that the Harvest bonspiel was a lot of fun, and showed excellent curling,” said Hall. “We would like to thank the VCC and Kathy McInnes for organizing an amazing event, and thank Apex Pest Control for sponsoring our team this season."
Hall’s dad’s company agreed to support the team for the year, so they could enter all the bonspiels they’re able to participate in. So far, that looks like a great investment.
"We look forward to representing the PRCL in future bonspiels," said Hall.
PRCL show-down for 'C' Event!
The ‘C’ Event final also had a strong PRCL showing, with Team Holmes’ Jack Holmes (Skip), Aaron Thompson (Third), Gerald Gunn (Second), Stephen Caldwell (Lead) winning against Team Schneider, comprised of Stephen Schneider (Skip), Rick Feeney (Third), Shawn Eklund (Second) and Glenn Smith (Lead).
"The Harvest Bonspiel was very well run," said Holmes. "We certainly had a fabulous weekend of curling! It was such a treat seeing three of the six teams in the play-off finals were from our PRCL."
For all these PRCL members, the season is definitely off to a great start. Good curling everyone and congratulations from the PRCL!
Team "Make it Work" Achieves VCC's Third "8-Ender" this Month!
Congrats to Team "Make It Work" (from left to right: George Hall, Kevin Jervis, and David Thill) for scoring an 8-ender on Monday evening!
This is the third "8-ender" the VCC has seen this month. Teams should head the advice of PRCL member David Leal: "If you win the coin toss, take the yellow rocks. All three 8 enders were with yellow!"
Reminder: League Rules for Spares
As a friendly reminder, teams should be aware of our League Rules for using spares. In particular:
- Priority should be given to members on our Spare Roster. This list can be found in the "Members Area" after you log in.
- If no spares from the Spares List are available, the team may use members of other teams within the PRCL.
- Spares may play any position, including skip, but must throw lead or second rocks.
Please see the League Rules page for more detail. If you have any questions about this rule, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Registration for the Pink Broom Now Open!
The Pink Broom is a casual one-day bonspiel with a "mix and match" team format, where participants play four draws with a different team for each 4-end game. The mood is relaxed, so it's a great way to get to know your fellow PRCL curlers. For our beginners in the league, this is a great bonspiel to call your first!
- Date: November 26, 2011
- Cost: $50 per person
The fee includes four draws (four ends each) plus lunch, snacks, and coffee.

North of 40 achieves historic "8-ender"!
PRCL team North of 40 -- made up of Lee Rivett, Reg Krake, Brad McKeage, Rick Feeney and Glen Hickey (not shown) -- will go down in the record books as the first team to achieve an "8-ender" (all eight rocks in play) at the new Vancouver Curling Club.
"In 35 years of curling, this is the first time I have ever had an 8-ender," said Skip Rick Feeney."It's a once-in-a-lifetime achievement!"
The PRCL congratulates North of 40 on this historic achievement. Great curling guys!
